Over the past year living through a pandemic, I’ve had a lot of time to evaluate my business. I got the chance to take a look back on where I started and how far I’ve come, but it also caused me to see the holes in my business and the space that I felt called to fill.
One area of my business that I’ve put off for so long is education. I think that’s because as a self-taught photographer, there is something in me that thinks the best path is figuring things out the hard way. But I’ve had to remind myself that although starting a business is hard, you can’t do it alone.
When I looked at my brand I noticed that it was almost entirely centered around travel inspiration + tips. Travel is such a huge part of my life and is my greatest passion, but what’s an even bigger part of my life is photography.
I’ve spent the past 10+ years as a full-time photographer and it’s the only job I’ve ever had. What started out as a $1,300 loan from a college professor turned into a six figure business, and I’ve never shared how I got there.
Photography has been the door to all of the opportunities I’ve gotten in life from photographing for tourism boards, traveling around North America shooting for an airline, cruising the Caribbean shooting with a cruise line, and so much more. It’s opened the door to staying in hostels around the world, eventually moving abroad, and turning internet friends into real life friends.
But most importantly, it’s provided a way for me to afford to do all of the things I love.
So from here on out, I want to make my business about more than helping you travel hack — I want to help you find freedom and create a life you love. Whether that be through improving your photography skill, finding the courage to start your own business, or adopting a slower way of living the have time for the things that matter.
So whatever brought you to my little place on the internet, I’m happy you’re here. Thank you for following my journey, reading the words I have to say, and for your support. At the end of the day what I do on here is for you, and I want to be a resource for you to grow and thrive.
So feel free to browse around and explore what’s new and let me know what you want to learn so I can make sure to share about it in the future!
